Tucked away in the rugged cliffs of Nadur, Mixta Cave is one of Gozo’s most breathtaking natural gems. This secluded cave opens like a giant window over Ramla Bay, offering an unforgettable panorama of the island’s largest and most famous red-sand beach. As you step inside the cave, you’re greeted by the contrast of cool stone and golden light spilling in from the wide entrance. The view is nothing short of magical: rolling hills, emerald fields, and the vivid blue of the Mediterranean Sea meeting the burnt-orange sands of Ramla below. It’s no wonder Mixta Cave has become a favorite spot for photographers, hikers, and romantics alike. Legend whispers that this cave was once used by ancient settlers and later by pirates as a lookout. Today, it’s a peaceful escape where time slows down, perfect for a picnic or simply sitting in quiet awe of nature’s masterpiece. Whether you reach it by a short hike from Nadur or a scenic climb up from Ramla Bay, Mixta Cave rewards your effort with one of Gozo’s most iconic vistas. Bring your camera – and don’t forget to pause, breathe, and soak in the wonder.

Mużajk: Mary Portelli
Victoria
Gozitan artist Mary Portelli showcases no fewer than 45 of her works, several of which depict familiar landmarks in Gozo such as the Gran Castello, Comino Tower, St Anthony’s Battery, Kenuna Tower, Gordan Lighthouse, Sopu Tower, and the Carnival Monument in Nadur. These pieces are made mostly from ceramic tile, which the artist meticulously cuts to emulate the actual buildings. They are set against a variety of tesserae, namely broken crockery, local stone, smalti, shells, mug handles, and other media.
