An exhibition showcasing rare documents, maps and photographs from the Gozo Archives, offering a glimpse into the island’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

This retrospective exhibition features extensively the art of Carmelo Mangion (1905-1997) who is one of Malta’s leading pioneers of Modern Art. He left behind a rich patrimony exemplifying a modernist zeal and a creative vision.

Now in its 12th edition, the Ceramic Arts Collective Exhibition returns to the historic setting of the Cittadella Cultural Centre in Gozo, celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship of ceramic artists from across the Maltese Islands. This year’s exhibition features the work of 30 established and emerging ceramic artists, each presenting their unique interpretation of clay through sculpture, form, texture, and glaze. Visitors can expect a rich diversity of techniques and themes, ranging from traditional craft to contemporary artistic expression. Hosted with the support of the Ministry for Gozo, Cultural Heritage Directorate, Munxar Local Council, and ALKA Ceramics, the exhibition aims to inspire the public and offer a platform for dialogue between artists and the community. Open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the exhibition invites both locals and visitors to immerse themselves in the evolving story of ceramic arts in Malta.

The Gozo Film Festival opens on 22 August at the Cittadella in Gozo, launching a free three-day celebration of cinema. The programme includes feature films, short films, animations, workshops, and a dedicated kids’ section. Attendees can explore filmmaking through hands-on activities and enjoy a curated selection of local and international productions. The opening night features a short film segment at 20:30, with entries from Ecuador, Malta, Georgia, and more (80 mins, age 15+), followed by the Maltese comedy-drama Ciao Ciao at 22:00 (90 mins, age 15+).
